Following Cory Darlington's decision to step down , Prime Minister Euan Staton-Reed believes the DNP requires completely fresh leadership heading into the next election & so decided he too would step down as Parliamentary Leader of the DNP, although he will remain PM until the next election.

The DNP held an internal election to determine Staton-Reed’s successor, the results are as follows:

Emma Morton (Right Wing candidate)- 70

Leila Thorne (Centrist Candidate)- 176

Dean Taylor (Far Right Candidate)- 14

Rowand Bartlett (Centre-Right Candidate)- 179
