The Davostagian national identity is derived on the basis of the historical, cultural and religious unity as well as the similar linguistics of the two historic ethnic groups, the Davostagian Skigere ("Davostanis") and the Davostagian BefΓ€skar ("Kivonians") who are native to the region through various Dundorfic migrations between 300 and 700 CE. The Skigere arrived first and settled in what is today in the northern regions of Davostag, while the BefΓ€skar settled in the southern parts. The two people lived in peace, traded and practiced Vardic paganism for several centuries and together became known as Davostagers.

With the constant influence of northern Artanian military customs, the development of a hierarchical clan culture, and the languages starting to clearly differentiate, the three BefΓ€skar tribes: Nordhar, Virkar and Arknar (Luthorian: Nordes, Vinkers and Arcnies; OOC: based on the three Swedish progenitor tribes, Swedes, Geats and Gutes), were violently unified by the Nordes' clan of Kivonah, this would be seen as the historical split between the BefΓ€skar and Skigere. The Clan Kivonah would found the city of Kivonia, which the BefΓ€skar would adopt as its name, "Kivoner" (Luthorian: Kivonians). The Kivonians would go on to be more liberal minded than their counterparts, embracing scholarly freedom, scientific advancement, polygamy, and some other taboo practices rarely present today.

When the split occurred it was not clearly noticed until several decades later when Kivonians began raiding into the northern Skigere regions, conquering and pillaging, and Kivonian scholars addressing and classifying the Skigere tribes as a foreign people, dubbing them "Dovskere" (Luthorian: Davostanis) in reference to the island of Dovsk (today commonly known as Dovmark or Dovland) which the Skigeres first settled in their migrations. Due to the increased hostility from the Kivonians, the Davostanis became increasingly isolationist and conservative. Around the same time, Vardic paganism began to decline among the Davostanis who instead embraced Satanilism and would continue to do so for centuries to come, until recent history when it fell out of favor.

Hosianism through the Aurorian Patriarchal Church came to and developed around 11th century CE in southern Davostag, on the islands of Bindeborg, eventually spreading into the southern mainland but remained in that part of the country as the northern-based Satanilists remained headstrong resistant to it. Abjurant denominations have managed to gain footholds in the country a few times but has never fully been popular until recent history with the establishment of the Church of Davostag that embraced a nativized form of the Abjurant denomination described 'Puritan Abjurantism'; today with the Aurorians diminished and the Satanilists long gone, the Church of Davostag stands as the predominant national church of the country, but Vardic paganism, while almost disappearing after Hosianism arrived, has been on the rise again with a large portion of the population practicing it.

In recent history, the Davostanis and Kivonians embraced their original identity as Davostagers, viewing each other as no more than two parts of a greater whole. Exchanging cultural ideas and values, today the Davostagers are generally considered to be reserved, scientifically progressive, conservative in social affairs, liberal in expression, as well as having an affinity for rural life, with the military traditions and culture remaining strong in the population; the Kivonian concept of Folkhemmet ("the People's Home") has led the Davostagers to be considered collectivist with a strong national pride. While the Kivonian clan culture have weakened and only remains as a very small minority among the Kivonians, it persists in a ceremonial fashion as a unique form of aristocracy in the country.

TL;DR: All party names, candidates, and RP characters should all have BefΓ€ska (Swedish) or Skigere (Danish) names, seeming as those are the two most commonly spoken languages; names of a minority language should only be used if the player is rping as a minority party.

The formal name of the country and its state institutions should be in BefΓ€ska (Swedish), as it is the majority language and will serve as the lingua franca of the country; these includes the country name, the head of state, the head of government, and the legislature; these institutions will receive a Skigere (Danish) translation on the Wiki.
