Sekoβs culture is largely based on that of the Ryukyu Islands, primarily the Ryukyu Kingdom and the Okinawa Prefecture, in addition to having Mayan, French, Scandinavian, Chinese and other East Asian influences. Throughout this document, brackets are used to highlight real-life equivalents of in-game terms. πππ-ππππ πππππππ The first recorded events in Sekowan history are represented by the old Orinco (Mayan) civilization which flourished in antiquity. Seko was first unified under the Orinco-led Tsekwon Empire, which lasted until 589 CE when the Empire collapsed into a number of independent kingdoms and city-states. In the 13th century most of Seko was conquered by the Empire of Gao-Soto (Medieval Japan/Imperial China), until Gao-Soto was conquered and colonized by Luthori and Seko again entered a period of disunity. The nation was again unified under the Kunihito (Japanese) Kingdom of Sekowo in the 17th century, which was to last until 1875. The Kingdom of Sekowo was brought under the colonial control of Egelion, and the colony was later transferred under the control of Rildanor. In 2193 Seko gained its independence as the Union of Sekowo. Sekowans are based on the Ryukyuan and Japanese people culturally. They are a subgroup of the larger Kunihito (Japanese) cultural group, which is itself a part of the Gao-Showa (East Asian) meta-group. While many Sekowans are secular, the majority culturally identify with the Sekowan version of Kamism (Shinto), which is based on the Ryukyuan religion, and/or Daenism (Buddhism), Guidao (Taoism) and Jienism (Confucianism). The Orincos are the second largest ethnic group in Seko, which was in antiquity the cradle of Orinco civilization. Orincos are based on contemporary Mayans, and most speak the Orinco language (Mayan languages) in addition to Kunihito (Japanese). Most Orincos adhere to Orinco Polytheism (Mayan Religion), although many also practice Kamism (Shinto), Daenism (Buddhism), and/or Hosianism (Christianity). Orincos belong to the Shinjalan (Mesoamerican) meta-group. The SΓ©cowonnais are a small, but significant minority group who trace their descent to mixed parentage between Seko's larger ethnic groups. In the last centuries, the population of Sekowo has increased from 70,219,341 to 70,375,116 (http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9554). This is only due to migration of ethnic Kunihito people from Hultria-Mikuni (see the CP of Hulstria: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=698633). They constitute an aoutomous identity called "Dapuraiburu" (again, see Hulstrian CP), well integrated in Sekowan society. ππππππππππππ: ππππππππ Kunikata (Japanese) is the lingua franca of the society and is spoken by the vast majority of people living in Seko. Sekowan (Ryukyuan languages, mainly Okinawan) is the second most widely spoken language in Seko. Sekowan is considered a dialect of Kunikata (Japanese) and is used mostly in informal contexts by members of the Sekowan majority. Minority populations often speak their own native languages in addition to Kunikata, proportional to population size. In modern society children are often taught a foreign language, most notably Luthorian (English) due to its commercial and political dominance, but also French (Canrillaise), Kazulian (Norewegian), Indralan (Chinese), and/or Kyo (Korean). Tsekwon (Classic Maya) is the classical language of the Orinco people, and besides its role as the liturgical language of Orinco Polytheism it is sometimes used as a language of prestige by Orincos. Most religions in Seko are practiced in syncretism, such that while a small population may identify with Daenism, for example, it is likely that many Kamists also participate or believe in Daenist practices and teachings. Additionally, many people who identify as primarily secular may participate in religious events, and frequent places of worship. The two most prominent religions in Seko are Sekowan Kamism (Shinto, influenced by Ryukyuan Religion), and Daenism (Buddhism). Sekowan Kamism differs from the mainstream version of the religion in numerous aspects, primarily the belief in the spiritual superiority of women. The vast majority of Gao-Showan (East Asian) religions having some degree of presence can be found in Seko. Orinco Polytheism (Mayan religion) is adhered to largely by Orinco peoples. The religion has a large pantheon of gods and heroes, and a central aspect of the religion is sacrifice, historically including blood sacrifice, but manifesting in modern Seko largely as grain sacrifice. πππππππππ ππππππ Character names should be based on a reasonable interpretation of the ethnic/linguistic breakdown above, i.e. primarily Japanese or Ryukyuan names. Seko conforms with East Asian naming conventions, in that the surname of a character should come before the given name. Rildanorian (French), Hulstrian (Austrian German) and Kazulian (Norwegian) surnames are rare but present in the country, especially in the mixed SΓ©cowonnais group.
