Bill: Elimination of Death Penalty

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2281

Description[?]:

The death penalty is just plain wrong. Now, I know what you religious nuts are thinking, "God loves killing, we need to do lots of killing in his name". In respect of the former, you may well be right. As illustrated in a previous bill, God really does love that killing (to the extent that you can believe the Bible as the divine word of God). I'm not so sure about the latter though. What would have been really helpful would be if God had written somewhere in the Bible something short and unambiguous for the benefit of the hard-of-thinking faithful. Something like, I don't know, a commandment. A basic pronouncement for people to live by, something like "Thou Shalt Not Commit Murder". We can but dream.
