Bill: Fishing Industry Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2316

Description[?]:

In order to allow for the fishing industry to be competitive and responsive to changing conditions, whilst also guaranteeing its survival from both National and International competition, the Government will allow boat Skippers to again own and operate their boats.
Whilst doing this, but also acting to stop the "over-fishing" of trade stocks, the Government will maintain quotas for maximum catch numbers. These numbers will be set on a per-month basis, though these numbers will be variable dependent upon the time of year and when the breeding season is.
Large "trawlnets" will be banned due to their ability to catch small juvenile fish before they have had chance to breed.
International fishing within Hobrazian waters is banned. Any International, or National boats with illegal nets, found in Hobrazian waters will immediately have their trawlers impounded, without appeal, at the nearest port and all their catch will be removed and impounded until such time as the Justice can bring charges.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
