————————————Factio Phileléftheris———————————— Luthorian Name: The Liberal Party Ideology: Civic Nationalism, Liberal Conservatism Youth Wing: Néous Patriæ (Young Patriots) Women’s Wing: Gynaeices tis Patriam (Women of the Republic) Students Wing: Liber Fœtetes in Rem Publikam (Free Students of the Republic) - - -Party History- - - The Liberal Party was founded in the 4390s as a coalition of social and classical liberals, Pan-Klavians, and Keymonite Patriots opposing the Luthorian Commonwealth entry promoted by the predominantly Luthorian New Democratic Party. The Liberal Party opposes personal union with Luthori and refuses to acknowledge the Luthorian Monarch as Head of State of Luthori. - - - Party Organization - - - The Party is organized in both cities and rural areas. In cities, the highest body is the Urbeis Agorum (Urban Forum) which coordinates city political activity. On the ward level, there are Agorae Sekebantur (Ward Forum) which coordinates ward elections, efforts to rally voters, and organize. In rural areas, the Roustika Agoura (Rural Forum) coordinates smaller towns, townlands, and villages in a similar manner to the Urban Forum. Below that there is the Agorum Oppidoum (Town Forum,) Agourum Villam (Village Forum) and Agrikolae Agorum (Farmer’s Forum.). All three are essentially identical, except the farmer’s forum exists in divisions distant from a designated town or village and requires a certain number of farmers to be representatives. Each subdivisional forum consists of 10 elected Socii (members) who elect amongst themselves a Diepthyntus (Director) Quaestor (Treasurer) and Sekretarius (Secretary). The same exists on the divisional and national level. However, Divisional councils consist of 2 representatives of every subdivision, and the national council consists of a representative from every city and rural forum, plus 20 appointed members. The national party meets in a convention every year to update the platform. Any party member may attend, although the national council and all divisional and subdivisional members are required to attend. All may vote. In election years, these conventions nominate the executive candidate —Factions— As the largest party in Klavia Okéano, and a driving force behind swiftly leaving the Luthorian Commonwealth, the party is essentially split as a bloc, attempting to juggle many interests. There are four main factions in the party: •Philéleftherii (Liberals): 42% Of the party’s predominant name, the Liberals grouping is the largest faction and most powerful. I. late 4300’s and early 4400s they are instrumental in Klavia’s transition from Luthorian rule. The Philéleftherii are civic nationalist, and they tend to eschew heavily ethnic nationalism, although on occasion they sympathize with its concepts. They support religious pluralism with a special role for Aurorianism, and traditional liberal stances on many civil liberties issues (aside from life and adoption related issues,) while being economically moderate, thus liberal conservatives •Libertarianii (Libertarians): 15% The Libertarians are a classical liberal faction, some identify with civic nationalism, and most do not, but all are strongly in favor of republic and were thus instrumental in leaving the Luthorian Commonwealth and pushing pro-market reforms. Tend to be more secularist. •Stylitae (Pillar-Dwellers): 33% The Stylitae are ethnic nationalists, very pro-Aurorian Church, and anti-Luthorian and oppose bishopalism and other reformed Hosian sects. Frequently border on reactionarism. Curiously, they are highly in favor of trade, and rather indifferent to immigrants. Tend to stress export-based trade policy. -Philéleftherii Socii (Social Liberals): 10% Support many Social Democratic policies, and abortion. Favor liberal and civic nationalism. |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
Random quote: "It is necessary for him who lays out a state and arranges laws for it to presuppose that all men are evil and that they are always going to act according to the wickedness of their spirits whenever they have free scope." - Niccolo Machiavelli |
