Description[?]:
We believe that no person can limit themselves to extreme views concerning real life. Every issue contains gray areas. It's very possible to allow one level of action without allowing the next greater. Here are some examples: CIVIL LIBERATIES We believe that any person may act as they wish in the privacy of their own homes (or other gathering places). This means they may maintain any romantic relationship, belong to any organization, watch what they wish and so forth. Essentially, nothing should restrict an individual in their private lives. Except their acts should not show disrespect for other's beliefs or outright ignore consideration of others. In the public realm, people should respect others and restrict their actions accordingly. One example of these would be nudists who wear clothes outdoors. They understand that others may not desire to see their naked bodies and they respect other people’s wishes. Now, we do no wish to limit people’s actions completely. For example, we understand that some religions require its members to seek converts. They can do so in a mutually respective way. This means explaining their beliefs in a calm manner, accepting other’s disinterest, and refraining from attacks and insults. Also, anything that benefits everyone as a whole better serves the populace than benefits for only select groups. However, exceptions can be made depending on the circumstance. ECONOMY We believe that the public must know all possible information concerning the products and services that they receive. The government must regulate business to ensure safe production. However, we refrain from supporting complete governmental control of private industry. That would promote stagnation. Therefore, we feel that the government should not provide subsidies. When matters of economy and civil rights conflict, civil liberties take precedent. ENVIRONMENT We seek to promote a healthy environment, while maintaining a realistic industrial and technological growth. This means choosing alternate energy sources, limiting the use of natural resources, and protecting wild animals and their habitats, for example. MILITARY While we understand the need for a military, we should place more concentration on services, economy, and the environment. Therefore, we oppose compulsory military service or outrageous military spending. We also wish to limit the employment of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons because these often cause more harm to innocent people and the environment than to the targeted aggressors. RELIGION Everyone may practice whatever religion they please, as long as they respect the basic rights and considerations of others. However, religion must not be allowed to influence or control the public sector. Therefore, we support a strict separation of church and state. |
