Description[?]:

The Green Party is a centre-left environmentalist party in Cynewīse Fāronlandes (Deltaria Nova).

Created: November 4566

Leaders:

Jim Hacker (November 4566-December 4583)
Gabriel Matthews (December 4583-January 4590)
Clarence Rivers (January 4590-October 4601)
Ian Whitchurch (October 4601-May 4604)
Jacob Harrison (May 4604-September 4608)
Ian Whitchurch (September 4608-present)

The party was founded by Jim Hacker after a series of electoral defeats led to the wipeout of the left wing in parliament and a lack of action on environmental issues taking place. The party has two main factions: the centrist environmentalists and the left-wing progressives. The environmentalists have been dominant for all of the parties history.

Jim Hacker retired from the Party Leadership in December 4583, with his deputy Gabriel Matthews taking his place as leader. Jim Hacker moved from the Head of State position to the National Assembly, becoming Prime Minister after the following election.

Gabriel Matthews resigned as leader after narrow election defeat in January 4590. She was replaced by incumbent Finance Minister Clarence Rivers.

Clarence Rivers successfully led the party back to government in the 4593 election. Jim Hacker retired from politics after the first Green majority government successfully passed a cabinet.

Clarence Rivers announced he would not recontest the next election after a shock win in the 4601 election. He was replaced by Ian Whitchurch, the Health and Social Services minister at the time. Prime Minister Jacob Harrison attempted to take the position but was narrowly defeated by Whitchurch.

In May 4604, just one month after Ian Whitchurch's election victory in April, Jacob Harrison successfully spilled the leadership of the party.

Ian Whitchurch was returned to the leadership after successfully spilling Jacob Harrison in September 4608.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.

Random quote: "Global warming, at least the modern nightmare vision, is a myth. I am sure of it and so are a growing number of scientists. But what is really worrying is that the world's politicians and policy makers are not." - David Bellamy
