The Civic Party

Constitutional Issues:

The Civic Party is a republican party that ultimately supports a democratically elected head of state. However, we are not radicals, and believe the best way to support our goal is via a long-term constitutional evolution towards republicanism with the ultimate decision resting in the people of Yingdala via a referendum. In the meantime, we can accept a secular, crowned republic, in which the Emperor of Yingdala serves as a secular, ceremonial symbol of the nation.

As part of our goals of establishing a more democratic society, we further support changing the title of the Counselor-in-Chief to Prime Minister, to reflect the role of the head of government as a true representative of the people rather than merely a tool of the monarch.

Economics:

As a liberal party, we embrace free market economics and capitalism as the best ways of generating wealth and prosperity for the nation and its people. However, we recognize that the life circumstances of some people leave them out of this vision in a manner beyond their own control. We seek to established a system that allows the free market to thrive, while providing a safety net to expand this prosperity to all of Yingdala’s citizens.

Social Issues:

We believe Yingdala is ready to embrace a progressive, inclusive outlook that respects human rights, celebrates the diversity of our minorities, and respects alternate ways of life. To this end, we endorse LGBT rights, support the separation of religion and the state, and believe that, while tradition can play a positive role in guiding society, the government most play an active role in protecting the rights of minorities who may not follow these traditions.

Environment:

The Civic Party recognizes the preciousness of the vast natural resources and the natural beauty of Yingdala and the entire planet. We endeavor develop means of using these natural resources for the benefit of the nation, while also protecting our natural beauty from exploitation and damage. Thus, we support increased environmental protections and investment in renewable energy within a free market.

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left.
