Description[?]:
The Social Alternative is a political party in the Free Republic of Dorvik, established in February 2307. The Social Alternative aims for a radical overhaul of the political and economic system in Dorvik, aiming for the creation of a socialist economic system, controlled by the government on behalf of the worker, and essentially being run along corporate lines, allowing employee and employer to meet on level terms, and eliminating the need for a class war. The Social Alternative strives to improve the lives of the poor, backing efforts to increase the help given to the poor, in the form of state services and state benefits. Its anti-Communism gives it distaste for the political left in general, however as the economics of the Social Alternative is socialist, it seeks to work with socialist parties in order to reform the economy and improve the lives of the poor. Socially the Social Alternative remains conservative, advocating patriotism and traditional values. Indeed the movement could be described as fiercely nationalistic, and overtly hostile to immigrants and foreigners. Because of this some would choose to label the party fascist, or perhaps national socialist in inspiration. However the Social Alternative reaffirms that it is “neither left or right, but Dorvikian” Since its foundation the Party has been led by the former actress Carmela Giordano. |
