Color[?]:
Description[?]:
Formed by the surviving members of the Liberal party, the Beluzian Workers Party has been formed to speak for the Beluzian people against Communists, Zogists and other enemies of freedom. 2541: Terrorist attacks and assassination attempts force surviving members of the Liberal party underground. 2550: Militant members of the Liberal Party form the Beluzian Workers Party. ------------------------------------------------------ formerly the Liberal Party Motto: "In all things, Liberty" Firm believers in Classical Liberalism, the Liberal Party is foremost concerned with the protection of individual liberty and freedom: Policies: - fiscal rectitude - meaning that governments cut expenditures and/or raise taxes to maintain a budget surplus - competitive exchange rates - governments accept market-determined exchange rates, as opposed to implemented government-fixed exchange rates - free trade - the removal of trade barriers, like tariffs and regulatory trade barriers - privatization - the transfer of previously-public-owned enterprises, goods, and services to the private sector. - undistorted market prices - governments would selectively refrain from policies that would alter market prices. - limited Intervention - with the exception of intervention designed to promote exports, some kinds of education or infrastructural development Founded in 2399. 2408: entered into a coalition government with the ultra right-wing PPP and the newly formed Whig Party. Dranland Crisis of 2415: the emergence of The Rabble and the resurrection of the Conservative Party lead to another election loss for the Liberals, drawing calls of Lord Armstrong's resignation from the leadership. 2428: Earl Paul Martin, the former Finance Minister under the PPP-Liberal-Whig coalition government, was elected to replace Lord Armstrong, leading the party to form the largest bloc in Parliament. 2437: With the shift in direction taken by the Whigs, serious divisions began appearing in the Government benches, threatening the stability of the ruling coalition. 2438: The Liberal Party withdraws from the International Monarchist League, and proposes the dissolution of the monarchy. 2440: At the 41st Annual Liberal Convention, party leader Martin announces the renunciation of the monarchy and all member's titles, as well as denounces the PPP as a fascist organization. He declares that the Liberals will now sit in opposition to the government in Parliament. 2451: The Neo-Marxist Revolutionary-Liberal Coalition assumes control of the Government. After 24 years of leading the Liberal Party, Martin resigns and Pierre Trudeau assumes to top job. 2468: William Armstrong III, grandson of party founder, assumes the leadership. 2471: Armstrong assumes the premiership, with the Liberal-Communist coalition taking the government benches in the wake of the 2470 General Election. Coincidentally, the Liberals make their worst showing (by seats) in an election in over thirty years. 2485: William Armstrong III resigns from the Liberal Party. 2494: At the 91st Annual Conference, John Garner wins the nomination for president with the support of religious conservative elements within the party. 2499: The Liberal Party celebrates its centennial. 2514: After a single-term absence, the Liberal Party once again reclaims the office of President of the United Kingdom. The Liberal Party has established its dominance of the executive position during the first two decades of the 26th century. 2520: Bushrod Washington becomes High Chancellor of the United Kingdom 2534: The Liberals sweep 4 of the five Republics of the UK in the general election, maintaining the Chancellorship and a plurality in Parliament. |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
