Bill: De-Centralization of Food Policy Act of 2357

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Party of Dorvik

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2358

Description[?]:

Current law just unnecessarily creates more bureaucracy for the central government and interferes on local issues. The county parliaments can make as responsible decisions as the central government, this is not a question of lowering the quality of food but taking the decision making there where it should be in these kind of issues, to local level.

* Carl Stohlberg, Senator and member of the Senate Food & Agriculture Committee

MessageCarl Stohlberg is now being audited for certain discrepancies in his tax forms. Should we trust a man that could possibly be involved in embezzlement and violation of tax code regulation #45830441/B.VI?

MessageWhy must the MPD consistently propose acts that just increase beaurocrasy in the nation?

MessageCarl Stohlberg is law-abiding citizen and there are no real evidence what so ever about embezzlement or violation of tax code. We could accuse the chairman of the UPE about making malicious falsehood in court but this time we look through our fingers and expect that the UPE won't do such again.

Our de-centralization proposals cut down central government bureaucracy and take the decision-making on local level where it's more effective and less bureaucratic. Besides, if the PCPD would have actually followed legislation process, we have made many proposals to cut down bureaucracy like alcohol de-regulation and food monitoring re-adjusting acts.

MessageQuite obviously Stohlberg hasn't been informed regarding his audit.

Take it to a local level where it's more effective? What happens during a disaster when local infrastructure has been affected, and it is unlikely city revenues could keep the coffers in the black?

MessageWe cannot see how a disaster in local infrastructure has anything relevant to do with central & local government responsibilities.

OOC: and quite obiviously you can't roleplay as like your party would actually represent current government officials or had rights to get administrative information. According to law concerning "Appointments and requirements for government employees", all government employees have to promise political independence.

That means all the members of your party previously working in the administration have been forced to resign, retired or resigned themselves and taking secret information with them, otherwise breaking a law. Talking about how you possibly would have contacts doesn't step over the contacts of traditional parties who actually have some power.

MessageA disaster on a local level would devastate the local economy. How could the local government provide welfare for it's citizens when the tax-payer's jobs washed away?

OOC: What, intentional errors are not allowed?

MessageThe local government can take out loan, raise taxes, cut expenses or apply for subsidies from central government which may give subsidies even without local government's request. However, we still can't see how the question about local disaster has anything to do with food policies so we the UPE you to drop the subject.

OOC: Roleplaying in Dorvik is based on common agreement between players about RP events. Each player can roleplay with his own party and its characters freely but in the same time keeping in mind the conditions, laws, news, history and other parties of the country. You can make up major train accident, "that-was-close" nuclear plant accident, make up a moderate strike related (for example) restricting strike rights or speak as from a mouth of some non-governmental organization like "League of State Employee Retirees" or as some trade union, still holding certain political neutrality without directly attacking certain party nor promoting your own. If you're not sure what kind of RP event you're doing, consult other players.

Holding a ministry gives more RP rights but even in this case consulting other(s), taking conditions & past events into account and not pushing it too far if the other side doesn't like it, is important. Moderacy in roleplaying is the key word here.
