Bill: Promotion of Moral and Physical Fortitude through a New National Sport Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Covenanters (IA)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2361
Description[?]:
Lords, ladies and gentlemen, my countrymen and brothers: Having agreed in this house to spend His Majesty's Tresury's money through the Promotion of Moral and Physical Fortitude through Sporting Activities Act, let us waste that money on a national "sport" such as sharpshooting. This is indeed a skill that a gentleman should posses, along with swordplay, but not one that His Majesty's Government should be promoting to the masses. Instead we should give them the gift of cricket, or rugby football. Please post your thoughts. |

Message | Sharpshooting is a far more wholesome family activity. Rugby and Cricket in no ways supports the family. Those "sports" support greed. Sharpshooting, the whole family can partake, and work to get better at the activity. The others, it's all about money and winning. That is NOT what the Holy Empire stands for.. That is NOT what the Holy Empire should support. |

Message | We propose that Military pentathlon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_pentathlon) becomes our new National sport. We still keep shooting but we add Obstacle running, Obstacle swimming, Throwing and Cross country running. |

Message | Rugby football is a sport of skilled amateurs. So we don't believe the charge that its mercenary holds water. Our next battle will be won on the playing fields of Liore after all. We also believe that teaching the lower classes how to use guns is a risk to our internal stability. |

Message | We would consider military pentathlon a step in the right direction, as it promotes fitness, unlike the current national "sport". Another option, of course, would be to adopt hunting (with dogs and horses, not traps or guns) as the national sport. Any thoughts on that? |
