Message | Weapons are kept in strict control and regulation, but not forbidden. |

Message | We are very happy to agree with the JPP on this one. We do not want to forbid weapons absolutely, but strict control and regulation must be exercised. We also move that under this new Firearms Bill, the State now allows our Police force to be issued standard firearms, and with special forces to be equipped with weaponry to perform special tasks. The NUF asks for support from all parties on this very important Bill. |

Date | 01:26:01, February 21, 2007 CET | From | National United Front | To | Debating the Firearms, Explosives and Dangerous Weapons Bill 2362 |
Message | We think that this Bill will spell a new era for safety and prevention of reckless use of dangerous weapons, that could very well harm our innocent, hardworking citizens and even our children. The NUF supports responsible and necessary use of this weapons if the regulators or authorities in control deem it so. But at the moment, we feel that the State must make a move to raise the standards of control. Please vote for this Bill. We will move this to voting. |

Message | We support the people's right to own firearms without strict licensing conditions. People should have the right to defend themselves and their family without government intrusion. We do support Article 2 and would support the measure if introduced by itself. However, because of our concern over civil liberties, we must vote no. |

Message | We think that, if the Police are to be trained in firearms, and are still then "controlled" in terms of what firearms they can use, then why should normal and ordinary citizens be given so much more lenience? Articles 1 & 2 are related, hence the NUF's position in proposing them under the same Bill. We are equally supportive of both articles, and will be interested to propose both separately should this Bill fall. But we would like to see where the JPP stands on this. |
