Bill: Lowering Age of Adulthood to 16

Details

Submitted by[?]: Centrist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2365

Description[?]:

Lowering the current age of adulthood from 18 to 16 is both sensible and beneficial to our glorious nation. Scientists overwhelmingly agree that the age of 16 is when a human brain reaches a level of maturity, in which adolescents are able to think logically, make decisions wisely, think carefully about the future, have a sound understanding of good and evil, right and wrong. The benefits our nation would reap from this act include greater number of enlisted men and women in our armed forces, a lower drinking age, and an attitude towards the young in our nation of acceptance rather than condescension.

MessageSorry but i do disagree with this bill.
It is a personal opinion that people at 16 are not very mature.Plus lowering the drinking laws would be a terrible idea, as this could lead to binge drinking amongst our youngsters and giving our youngsters a childhood.
But i do respect your opinions and i will considered maybe voting yes to give more freedom to stop the repression of the Neosocialist/Radical government.Even though i am slightly against the idea.

MessageAdjusting the Age of Adulthood would only grant our youngsters more freedom. Isn't it their right to binge drink if it is their wish? On top of that, our youngsters binge drink because it's taboo, it's cool, it's forbidden. If 16 and 17 year olds are allowed to drink, within a few years, binge drinking would only go down. These kids would learn much more about alcohol, reduce the amount that they drink now that they are allowed to, and the glamour and glory that now colors drinking (in the minds of our young ones) would be vanished.

MessageI absolutely cannot stand your argument. Suggesting that minors drink because it's taboo is simply ignorant.

MessageI agree with this proposal but not for the reason of schilling liquor. I believe the difference in maturity between 16 and 18 is rather superficial and that lowering the age of adulthood alongside of reforming the educational and social system to allow more of our youth to have a higher stake in the future of our society will only be of more benefit to the greater nation.

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself.

Random quote: "A liberal is a man or a woman or a child who looks forward to a better day, a more tranquil night, and a bright, infinite future." - Leonard Bernstein
