Bill: IP National Education Standards Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Imperialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2373
Description[?]:
This bill aims to eliminate home-schooling, as well as the loophole wherein charter school policy is determined by local governments, even though private schools are banned. There are many purposes of an education system, some of which involve the creation of good citizens. Charter schools (many of which are religious) and homeschooled children do not get the chance to socialize with students from the larger populace. Furthermore, homeschooled or charter-schooled children may gain access to better facilities than most. This means that the determinant of a student's success is not simply their own abilities, but rather their facilities. Such a state of affairs breed inequality. I support private universities, because of their value in research. However, I believe we must ensure that all students are inculcated with Telamonian values, and the same fundamental standards. |
