MessageWhy on earth would there be maintenance problems? The private companies would make sure that there were not such problems, as they would lose vast amounts of money. There are more likely to be problems when they are controlled by the government, as there is no incentive for the government to fix it.

Furthermore, people should be given a choice. At the moment, the consumer MUST have his energy provided by the government. This is oppression and creates dependency, something we are sure that the CDA is against. People must be allowed to choose who they want to provide their energy. A vote against this bill is a vote against freedom.

MessagePrivate companies are mainly interested in profit. If a private company gets into financial problems, it will have to cut back on costs to maintain profit levels. Maintenance costs for example. Add to this the fact that some companies will take better care of the power grid than others and you'll witness the emergence of an incoherent power grid.

MessageYou are quite right. Private companies are interested in profit. They will therefore ensure that the consumer is satisfied with their performance, and provide the best facilities that they can.

MessageI agree with RIR, it takes a good lot of weight off the government and also encourages people to go into business.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.
