Bill: Revised military spending proposal, April 2374

Details

Submitted by[?]: Covenanters (IA)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2374

Description[?]:

For those parties not fully committed to adopting a war economy for total war in support of our Rutanian neighbours and allies, the Ministry of Defence has drafted a new proposal based solely on increasing our naval power in order to create expeditionary task forces capable of supporting Rutanian operations against Dorvik and Selucia.

For those of you who like to pretend we have a "Justice Ministry" (when policing is handled by the military) and wish to set aside some of our budget surplus for tax cuts, we have only used half of the existing surplus for this proposal.

MessageWell, the CJP does like to "pretend" we have a justice ministry, seeing as how our man Petrescu is the current justice minister. Justice is about more than just policing. There is an entire court system as well. And for the record, the CJP is and always has been completely opposed to the use of the army as a police force.

MessageThere can still be cuts to other areas to make this passable. But a total increase to spending is unacceptable and wrong.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life fictional references (eg. Gandalf, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker).

Random quote: "If it were proved to me that in making war, my ideal had a chance of being realized, I would still say 'No' to war, for one does not create human society on mounds of corpses." - Louis Lecoin
