MessageSmoking processed cigarettes is far more harmful than most naturally occurring drugs, and not only to the user, but you are opposed to legalising those. Still, this is probably better than an outright ban, although I'd prefer it to be illegal in places of employment.

MessageThis iswhat were sticking with if its the best option In everyones opinion.

But before we put it to vote Mollusc I want to know why you think its governments responsibility to make it illegal in places of employment and not leave it up the person who owns/makes desicions in that building.

MessagePurely because although the separate section part reduces the second-hand smoke risk, it does not eliminate it completely.

Therefore, as far as I'm concerned, it is not the right of the individual to poison themselves I'm concerned with, but the right the right of everyone else not to be poisoned by them.

As for the responsibility issue: think of it as a health and safety problem. Governments intervene to prevent workers being exposed to plenty of other dangerous chemicals in the workplace, why should those in cigarette smoke be an exception?

MessageI see your point. OTOH, is it our right to tell people they cant do something to themselves.

It is a responsibility issue: let the people take responsitibility for there lives.

MessageThat's not the problem. The problem is when their decisions begin to affect others. As a result I don't mind smoking at home, or in private clubs, but when it's in a place of employment where non-smoking customers and employees are going to be exposed to the smoke, then I am more concerned

I know it's a slightly over-the-top comparison but I presume you value the right not to be stolen from more than the right to steal from others. In the same way, I place the right not to inhale toxic chemicals higher than the right of others to release those chemicals into the atmosphere.
