Message | This law would be a stain on the Empire. We would be regressing to a barbaric state. Torture is unreliable and violates basic human rights. The SPSP urges all parties to oppose this bill, in the name of law and order (for the state should face law and order as well) and in the name of human rights. |

Message | It is sadly necessary sometimes for a man to be tortured for justice to prevail. I agree with the proposal. |

Message | A "Barbaric" State has no laws or a justice system. The Empire not only has a justice system but it is currently weak, this proposal will toughen it up. If the Officer in charge truely believes that torturing a suspect could lead to him confessing to a crime then it would be wise to support. |

Message | You claim the justice system is weak- how would this strengthen it? It would only bloody it. How would allowing the government to violate human rights at it's whims, increase law and order. This also has the ability to bring great shame upon the Empire, when a wrongly accused man is tortured. |

Message | Keep in mind SPSP, that toruture would be only a tool of last resort, and would only be used on those who have, or could be retaining information that could potentially concern national security. Naturally we would be fairly certain of the person in question is guilty and is willfully retaining information regarding the crime or threat. |
Date | 21:36:40, April 09, 2007 CET | From | Imperial Party of Selucian | To | Debating the Torture Bill of 2385 |
Message | Not this time my fellow senatores. We are missing specific guidlines and restrictions. To burdon a single police officer will the decission to torture or not can't be a right and wise step under this conditions. |
Date | 01:53:56, April 10, 2007 CET | From | Selucian Nationalist Party | To | Debating the Torture Bill of 2385 |
Message | Yes, it should not be discretionary. Instead it should be regulated and only under certain circumstances. |
