Bill: Violent Images Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Country Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2388

Description[?]:

We propose that violent pornography is banned from Kirlawan television. We see no reason for Kirlawans to be able to view 'rape' or other anti-women pornography, even if those participating are in reality consenting.

MessageWe can support this. The government's support of violent pornography is propagating a culture which we have no love for.

MessageRape is not allowed, as rape is illegal, and illegal acts are not broadcastable.

We see no reason for this change in the law. If you don't want to watch porn, don't. If you don't want your kids to, deal with it as a parent.

MessageBut violent porn is, and one assumes that that would include pornography similiar to rape.

No reason for change? Because whether we like it or not, events broadcast to the public will always have an influence over some members of the public. Allowing violent porn sends a message that it is OK to beat your sexual partner.

MessageJust to clarify with the KPF, this is not an anti-porn Bill, but anti-violent porn. Obviously we are aware that the consumption of porn can be healthy, but we reject the idea that there is any benefit from violent pornography to anybody.

MessageBut plenty of consenting adults indulge in BDSM in a secure, safe and responsible fashion. Why should they feel that their sexual fantasies are chastised and rebuked by society?

MessageOne would expect any society to dislike violence, particularly if that violence is there to gratify someones pleasure.
