Message | Undecided. Putting the argument about competition aside, our party believes that the national defense is an area in which the national government has a vested interest. What would the government role in researching and devoloping new defensive technologies be if this legislation passed? If I understand the impacts of the proposal correctly, the government would offer to buy arms and weapons systems after a competitive bidding process? Any insight the VBD has regarding these questions would help influence our decision. MfG, Gerhard Schmitt von Schmidt, Die Faulenzer / Bündnis 74 Spokesperson for Defense (ooc: yes, yes, I know, I spell "defense" and "center" and "favor" and "color" incorrectly; but I'm going to do my elementary school teachers proud. Oh yeah, there's another one, "elementary" school vs. "primary" school :-) |

Message | What would the government role in researching and devoloping new defensive technologies be if this legislation passed? A reserved one. It is the responsibility of the industry to invest in new hard ware. The Defence Ministry is allowed to buy military product abroad of course if the quality/price ratio is at a disappointing level. If I understand the impacts of the proposal correctly, the government would offer to buy arms and weapons systems after a competitive bidding process? Yes, we will use the bidding process to decide upon which offer will be awarded. |

Message | The government needs to know that the military hardware it purchases are of the highest quality and technological levels. If it can be assured that the level of quality of our armed forces will not be negatively impacted by passing this legislation, our party could potentially support the measure. In the mean time, we will have internal discussions on the matter and decide whether to support or reject the measure. Regards... |

Message | This bill is still difficult for the F/B74 to decide. We will continue our internal discussions on the matter and will cast a floor vote before the deadline. |

Message | After wrestling with this bill within the party, we have decided to express our opinions through a no vote, although let it be known that our advisory team was just about evenly split over which way to throw our votes. Regards, H. Krustofski Vorsitzender der F/B74 |
