Bill: Innovation Security Bill of 2394

Details

Submitted by[?]: Christian Democratic Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2396

Description[?]:

Our technology companies need certainty and protection for their innovations in order to be competitive and willing to invest on Kirlawa. Current legislation also leaves a gap for fraudsters and those who want to take advantage from someone else's innovation & individual contribution, not to mention giving criminals additional chances to carry out their illegal operations & increasing the work load of the police.

MessageWe have proposed this in the past, but cancelled the bill after we realised how important open source is to Kirlawan culture and economy.

Illegal activities occur whether software is open source or not. Laws are obeyed only by law abiding citizens.

MessageIn fact, because we promote ope source etc, fraud doesn't happen. Your proposals would introduce more crimes for the police to trace, not less.

Because of the open nature of technology, there is a low incentive to copy, simply because the price will be so low. Therefore, by reversing our laws, you will increase prices and so increase the incentive for copy-crime.
