Bill: Alcohol for Adults only

Details

Submitted by[?]: Grand Republican Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2089

Description[?]:

The Grand Republican Party has no problem with alcohol itself; however, the law of the land states that though alcohol can only be purchased in licensed areas, anyone may purchase it. Surely this is something that cannot go on? Youngsters under 18 or even 21 are able to but alchohol in any amounts and become intoxicated by it. A rise in teen and pre-teen crime, a rise in vandalism, the rise in prison costs...all can be kept down, and Rutanias teenagers and pre-teens kept safe if this bill is brought into effect.

We add this opinion poll for further evidence that the Rutanian people wants this bill: http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewnews.php?newsid=3660

Addendum: Although only adults may purchase alchohol from licensed areas, anyone may actually consume the beverages, as long as an adult purchases said alchohol

MessageNot in favour at the moment, although we think there might again be a difficulty in reading the choices; the current one says "...*consumed* by anyone", which we support (on the "one-glass-of-watered-down-wine-at-the-dinner-table" principle, i.e. the earlier they're introduced to it, in a controlled environment, the earlier they'll learn how to handle it)

We probably aren't in favour of letting underage people *buy* alcohol, you see, but we are in favour of letting them *consume* it, and that seems to have fallen between the cracks of these proposals. If there's some clarification on what precisely would be allowed and what wouldn't we'll reconsider.

MessageWe are against this. Alcohol should be purchased by 16+ (Adults) but consumed by anyone.

MessageWhat if I added my own addendum in the proposal alloiwng teens to *consume* alchohol, just not buy it? Then, although the bill would say they can't, they actually could? I'm just putting an idea out here, I don't know if that would work.

MessageIt would be the best solution until a moderator takes note, yes that's a good plan (and once the correct proposal has been put in there we can re-run the vote)

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election.
