Message | Whilst we agree with this proposal in spirit and in essence, we're not quite sure if we'd like to exempt the aspect of current legislation that states that no individual with mental illness or a dangerous or criminal history may own a gun. We feel that whilst guns should be free to every law abiding citizen, we should maintain quite strict policies regarding background checks into things like criminal records. We want to make guns legal to every law-abiding citizen of this country, but we never want them to be available to just anybody that walks in the door. |

Message | But the old law allows Kids to have a gun. And we in ACP don't feel safe with that. |

Message | We don't think that this is true under the current system. Simply pass a resolution assuring that kids can't have firearms if you feel the current system implies that. Since we feel the current system is perfect, we will vote against this bill. |

Message | We agree with the PM - we know the ACP's concerns and they are of course completely valid, but we do not feel a change to this current legislation would be the way to adress those concerns. Better to make an alteration to the old legislation's fine print. |
