Bill: Environmental Protection Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Party Royale

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2402

Description[?]:

This nation's wildlands and its skies are in desperate need of protection. Some may say this is merely unneeded government regulation, but in the presence of a negative externality and a market failure, government regulation is exactly what is needed to get private industry back on track.

MessageThey are unnecessary! They are illegal! And they are a flagrant infringement upon the real duties of government. Issuing environment licenses, "good" car/"bad" car decrees, and pumping money into a park service IS NOT THE PLACE/ROLE OF GOVERNMENT. These are unenforceable and will cost a fortune to the working people of the D.R.A. No, no and no!

MessageGuess what: Money doesn't matter. Money is not what needs protected, our planet, and our wildlife do. Who cares if we fork over a little extra in taxes for the ability to see nature? Who cares if we fork over extra money now if we can cheaper, cleaner, renewable fuel later? The CP sure doesn't .

MessageMoney doesn't matter? Really? Who will pay for this? People don't work on protecting the environment without wages because people need to eat and pay rent--especially working people. Fork over extra money? How much is a "little", as you say, 1%, 5%, 10%, 50%? And when and how do we see results for the taxpayer money our citizens are paying? Accountability and value should come before idealistic platitudes about "saving the environment."

Message10% is as high as it should ever get unless it is just so dire that we need it raised.

Do you really want Aloria to be know as "the place where the animals die in smog filled air and have no place to roam because everywhere they used to could is now paved over"? The results are seeing an eagle being born even though their species is almost extinct, the results are less CO2 , milder summers, and the aversion of the next Ice Age. The results are our planet's future and if we don't act we may as well ourselves right now to get it over with. Saving the environment is accountability for years of rampant deforestation and non-stop pollution. Saving the environment is not just about the whales or the eagles, it's about the planet that has absolutely no exits. It's about saving the next generation if not the current.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.
