MessageCapital punishment is a great deterrent and a great way to get rid of the scum of society who will just be a burden on our jail system anyhow. If someone kills they get it right back at 'em.

MessageI would dispute the deterrent hypothesis, however, first-degree (premeditated) murderers who have been proved guilty beyond a responsible doubt in court, should be subject to execution if the prosecution and course deem it so. The threat of a future parole of a murderer who gets out only to kill again is a government let down of protection of the people from violent crime. The MLP support capital punishment in a limited, very specific amount but do not support this unnecessary bill. Many of you newer parties don't remember a recent time when capital punishment for the most heinous of crimes was prohibited. Crime was up and justice was hardly done. Plus, society had the burden of paying to house, feed and medically treat life without parole murderers, which is a slap in the face to law-abiding citizens in our fine nation.

Random fact: The influence a bill has on elections decreases over time, until it eventually is no longer relevant. This can explain shifts in your party's position to the electorate and your visibility.
