Bill: Concealed Weapons & Permit bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Bündnis 89 / Die Faulenzer

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2403

Description[?]:

Current national gun laws are flawed. Violence in the streets is on the rise, and we currently allow our citizens to carry concealed weapons unchecked. While we do respect the right of our responsible citizens to carry weapons (namely firearms) in public, and most of our citizens do not abuse this, we must take caution to make sure irresponsible citizens are not carrying around concealed weapons. This endangers the general public and creates additional pressure for local police authorities.

Therefore, be it resolved, that the Bundestag pass legislation changing our concealed weapon policy, making it mandatory for those who wish to carry such weapons to obtain a permit.

MessageFor interested parties: A debate on the issue from about a dozen years ago http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=111117

We, the legislature, need to think about protecting public property. If we allow our citizens to be out in public (shopping centers, public parks, plazas, walking busy streets, etc) carrying weapons, we at least have the responsibility to make sure they have a concealed carry permit.

This would not intrude upon anyone's right to protect their property, or even carry a handgun. The legislation is intended to provide an added layer of security for the general public which is non-intrusive and does not limit gun ownership rights.

We're going to have to defend ourselves against gunfights in the streets if we allow concealed weapons to go around unchecked. Permits issued by local governments would be an easy way to keep a check on concealed weapons.

A NO vote on this bill is a vote for more dangerous streets and for more pressures on police authorities to defend us.

MessageWe have mixed feelings about this. Surely a workers' militia need not conceal their weapons, so we could be persuaded to vote for this.

MessageMy party still believes that this law would do the following:

-- add a layer of security by allowing authorities to know where weapons are
-- assist law enforcement by asking citizens to have a license
-- it does NOT take away gun ownership rights of citizens
-- it does NOT prevent any private citizen from having a weapon on his or her own private land
-- it would, however, make heavily traveled public areas (parks, plazas, downtown shopping districts, etc) safer

MessageWhat is Naziesque about a workers' militia? Arming the proletariat is one of the best ways to rid your nation of a nasty Nazi infestation in the state structure. Can't do much oppressin' when your storm troopers are met with each factory worker wheilding a kalashnikov and RPGs.

ZRD supports. Good just to see who is concealing.

MessageAgreed with the ZRD, it is good for authorities to know who is concealing a weapon. This bill, as we have mentioned, does not take away gun ownership rights for lawful citizens, but it does allow a layer of protection for the general public.

P.S.: Any way we could agree to stop using the word Nazi in the debates? There are two N-words that I really don't enjoy in conversation: The one that refers to Hitler and his cronies, and the "other" one.

Most true. Remember, I hate stalinists as much as you do and if you will remember, we and the trotskyists opposed the Deltarian take-over.
