Bill: Westworthy v. Conservative Union Party

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sensible Parity

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2406

Description[?]:

Ms. Ophelia Westworthy, in accordance with the laws of Hutori and in light of recent comments by the Conservative Union Party, submits her to the courts as she presses charges against the CUP for slander. The CUP claims that Sensible Parity rigged elections. Despite this, the evidence shows that:

* Sensible Parity has no weapons and is a pacifist organization.
* Sensible Parity has no power in government and does not run elections at any level.
* After the first round of voting was overturned by the government, Sensible Parity won a second round, again, without controlling any weapons or having any power to run or rig elections.

The record shows that Sensible Parity cannot rig elections. All that can happen is that its members and supports go to the polls in accordance with Hutori law. Hutori law also states that "Individuals may sue over malicious falsehoods spoken about them." What CUP states is malicious in that it jeopardizes our existence, and it is false. It is therefore slander, and Ms. Westworthy asks Minister of Justice Cardinal Flavius to intervene.

Thank you.

MessageYou are spies who threaten the very existence of The Most Royal and Serene Kingdom of Hutori. Westworthy is the servant of Mario Monje who is on a mission from the Union of Macon. We have evidence to prove that you are false and spies. Do not try to deny this as you deny everything. The point remains that you are lying to the people and that too is a crime. You rigged the elections by forcing people to vote Sensible Parity, why else would they vote for spies? Ask yourself this, who would you rather have? Us, we've made a few mistakes in our time but we are loyal to the King and the people, Sensible Parity are a bunch of spies who care only for the Union.

Futhermore you are only a pacifist organisation so you can disarm Hutori so it can be easily invaded. You try to make things up about us to get us imprisoned (fine evidence here). Thirdly we do not like the title 'Ms'.

MessageHow did we "force" people to vote for us? That is the essence of your slander. Ms. Westworthy leads a movement that has no guns, no real financial power, no power in government. Sensible Parity has only a few things: a breathing technique, a form of calisthenics, and small gatherings in public squares. We forced no-one. Our message appealed to many. Who was forced, and how? If you cannot prove force, then you are committing slander. Remember, the defence against slander is truth. If you can prove that we rigged the election, then you are telling the truth. If you cannot prove it, then you are guilty of slander and we call upon the court to pass judgement upon you.

I also ask the court to forbid the CUP from entering extraneous evidence to this trial. This solely concerns their slander that we rigged elections. If they want to charge us with something else, it must be outside the pervue of this trial. Do not let them turn the trial into a podium for politics.

Thank you.

Ms. Westworthy.

MessageOh, we don't want anyone imprisoned. I would be satisfied if the CUP was fined for their slander and forced to issue a retraction. What kind of country imprisons people for slander? Not one that believes in Sensible Parity!

MessageSensible Parity: Would you in front of a court swear by oath you are not a spy of militant forces from abroad?

MessageMs. Westworthy would be prepared to swear such an oath. She also notes that such an oath doesn't apply to the current slander which is just about whether or not Sensible Parity rigged elections.

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play.
