MessageI am not so sure that we should be taxing the poor. We should be lenient upon those with low incomes, to help them escape the welfare trap.

MessageWhy does taxing the rich make it "fair" to tax the poor? The poor are those that have been least well-served by our system of education, (and other programs) hence they are poor. Furthermore they are less able to afford to pay taxes.

MessageWe would have a balanced budget if it weren't for the slashing of those excise taxes. I, for one, will not vote for severe defence cuts just yet.

MessageThe Imperialists are spot-on. It makes no sense whatsoever to make people who cannot so much as buy a litre of petrol or a loaf of bread or vital meds pay tax. I would advocate that sensible people suggest a 3.500 TPD base for taxation, and even then, 10% is far too high. Cannot you realise that when the poor pay 10%, they have FAR LESS leftover than the rich?!? If I earn 20.000 TPD per annum and pay your tax, I have 18.000 TPD left to spend ad libitum. If I earn 1.000 TPD per annum and pay your tax, I have 900 TPD left to purchase everything my family needs in a year. The richer person, in this case, has TWENTY TIMES MORE MONEY THAT THE POORER. This is unacceptable. Even true-blue capitalists would be appalled. Most of us spend more in a fortnight, let alone a month. I urge my colleagues to vote 'NO' on this so-called 'proposal' and further urge my 'proposing' colleague to utter nary a word on this matter until he has his head screwed on straight.
