MessageWell, yes...I suppose that MIGHT be an argument against gated communities. To be honest, I think that was more like a few tightly locked buildings with a fence. I think the VAST majority of the communities we would be talking about would be rich people and government housing...things like that.

MessageI'd like the LDP to explain why it thinks gated communities would be positive.

MessageThere's absolutely nothing wrong with gated communities. Citizens have every right to a protected neighbourhood, if they feel that their neighbourhood is threatened by the myriad of community-corrupting elements of society. We speak, for example, of graffiti hoodlums, drug-users, drunken youths, gangs, prostitutes, pedophiles, rapists, muggers and burglars, just to mention a few. If decent, law-abiding citizens do not want the scum of society wandering through their local area, corrupting and defacing their area's untarnished name, creating a dreadfully unsafe environment for their children, and causing a general disturbance all round, why should they not have the right for a gated community? These are very, very logical and legitimate concerns and we feel that gated communities are a wonderful idea.
That having been said, we would prefer at least the majority of gated communities to be established by the private sector, as aposed to the government.

Messagegated communities destroy the sense of community. You do not build a strong nation by dividing it with walls.

MessageWell, there you go.

Okay...we need to hear out the rest of the legislature before seeing how to move forward, so we encourage everyone to weigh in. The LDP is fairly neutral on the governmental vs.private issue, but clearly the big 2 are (unsurprisingly) polarized.

MessageI'm told I oppose every NP policy, yet I often vote before the NP and after my post, NP immediately has to post the exact opposite. I think it's the NP opposing me every step of the way and not vice versa.

MessageOOC: have you considered the fact that YOU ARE ALWAYS ONLINE? I work weird hours and it doesn't matter, %80 of the time i see yug102 or whatever yugi oh themed log in name you have there at the bottem or second to last on the list. of COURSE you'll vote first, you're chomping at the bit to go first. We all think you vote his polar opposite because you guys are polar opposites.

Anyways... IC: can someone bring up a scenario where the government would feel the need to set up a gated community? Tract housing and military bases are the only thing i can think of. I'm against the former as We believe that would create a kind of segregation and we're for the later as it would increase security. Although military bases may be exempt from this. As for private gated communities... let the rich live wherever, it really doesn't matter. And since most private frims would be creating this kind of community, fine. Go private only then, unless someone can think of something other than ghettos the government would set up.

MessageWe oppose most things you do because they are either Liberal or Capitalist, we are neither of them 2. However there is a few bills that we have supported that you voted first because I think its funny seeing so many seats vote together.
