MessageThank you, PLF. I consider that a compliment, seeing as how I am American. Anyway, public housing projects never work well. People can only value what they earn themselves (in most cases). Public housing projects will just lead to slums. Besides, it's not the job of society or the state to provide a living. As for your concerns, people on lower incomes will simply move to areas where they offer lesser costing housing or renting.

Messagebut the cost of housing is rising much much faster than the rise in pay. So they won't be able to.

And councile housing works fine.

MessageCouncil housing does not work fine. Just come to the US and see what it's like in our public housing districts.

As for housing costs, it just means that private companies will come along and build more houses until the housing bubble bursts and house prices decrease again.

MessageIn the real world, the housing market doesn't work like that.

Land is too scarce in populated areas, and urbanisation and immobilities prevent people from moving to other areas. As a result the market typically charges far higher than the "ideal price" that market-worshipers are so fond of babbling on about.

Messageyou just don't understand. If you actualy experianced and saw these marvels of socialism like education, health care and housing. Have you ever been out side of america? Have you ever visited a former communist country and seen there health care?

MessageLike it or not, the PLF is right: former communist nation had excellent healthcare. True, you got it whether you liked it or not, but it certainly worked.

MessageYeah, and you only had to pay extremely high taxes that discouraged foreign investment. Anyway, I'm not against state provided healthcare per se. I'm just against giving healthcare to the personally unaccountable which take up the most money.

MessageThing is, good healthcare usually pays for itself through the economic growth that results from it.
