MessageThis is a very bad idea. The code (software) is very well protected by copyright. Patents are for much wider ideas, and will create monopolies.

MessageReal world proposed software patents (doubleclicking, one-click-shopping etc) are comparable to patenting the wheel.

MessageWe agree with the Libertarians, the actual coding of software should be protected, as it is and that is enough. It is not necessary, indeed it is counterproductive to patent software techniques. Therefore we cannot support this bill and feel that it should be withdrawn.
