Message | Just because the good are non-luxury doesn't mean that only the poor buy them. I'm sure the rich buy lots of food - if it wasn't taxed they might just buy it all and let the poor starve. |
Date | 18:40:21, June 25, 2007 CET | From | Christian Royalist Party | To | Debating the Fairer Taxes Act |
Message | We would rather have the income tax lowered than the sales tax in order to create a more fairer flat tax. |
Date | 19:17:08, June 25, 2007 CET | From | Secular Party | To | Debating the Fairer Taxes Act |
Message | While we believe that taxes on essential goods should be lower than those on luxury goods, we don't support an abolition of the tax on essential goods when taxes upon luxury goods are being levied. We believe the current system, with the tax on essential goods being half as much as of those on luxury goods, is ideal. |

Message | Indeed we would support lowering the tax on essential goods but not completely eliminating it. |
