Bill: FPA 4-20/6 Welfare Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Teleurstelling Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2421

Description[?]:

To reduce excessive wasteful federal spending.
It is here by proposed in the above that the dispersement of cash payments to adults be ceased.

This proposal does not exclude rent vouchers or food coupons.

It eliminates 'cash' payments. Cash that can be spent on all manner of activities.

Eliminating cash from the dispersement system will make all the less appealing to be on the State Welfare program.

Federal Rent and Food coupons are still perfectly applicable to the poor, and far more difficult to abuse.

MessageRepresentative Michael Murphy rises.

It should be noted aswell that restrictions can be applied to the Rent and food coupons so that only nutritious food may be purchased as opposed to sweets and the lot.

Rent vouchers as well can be issued for specific areas and or types of housing.

This business of handing out cash must stop, and you will find that after a few weeks of someone producing brightly colored welfare coupons at the grocery store and being forced to endure the looks of the people around them they will be far less likely to remain on the program.

I yield the floor.

MessageHow will it penalize the poor?

The issue has been subsistance, and that is not removed.

We do not suggest denying food or shelter.

I see you have raised the objection, now support it.

MessageMr speaker,

The Rt Hon Lady opposite doesn't know the meaning of fair. What would be unfair would be to take half a working man's income away from his family and give it away to someone who has done nothing to earn it!

I yield.

MessageTo the Rt Hon representative from the BCD, as well as the Lady from the LCWA.

I first apologize for the outburst,
However I would again stress this does not in anyway exclude food coupons or rent vouchers it merely removes just doling out cash that can be wasted on things which the state should be providing.

While I will not take as extreme a track as my respected counter part from the BCD, I see nothing fair in your parties suggestion to seize 50% of a workers wage...50% Half of what they have earned. Earned. Yet it suppose that we propose making not working less then luxurious and we are unfair?

The logic for objection escapes me, and indeed for the general stance of your party on the value of the worker being less then the value of the non-worker.

If it is hard cash they wish, then earn it. If they want hand outs then by all means allow them to eat and have shelter...but I for one will not support emptying my wallet for someone who simply chooses not to work...and there are plenty who do indeed choose not to work.
