MessageMr Speaker,

The Government should never have the right to seize private property. What constitutes a 'vital government work', we ask the Falls Party? There needs to be more specification before the Linen and Pimm's chaps can even think of supporting this bill.

To the Rt Hon representative from the LPP,

I would not be so short sighted as to define what is vital, as clearly if it was foreseen it could be avoided.

In certain situations the State may need to seize land, expansion of military works in times of war, expanding a flood basin, resevoir, access to natural resources.

I must assure you this concept is not taken lightly by my Party, we loathe this concept. But, there is the possibility it might one day be required.

I yield the floor.
