Message | Article 1 regarding missionaries: They should be allowed to enter the country. It also seems that by proposing the government have no policy concerning a state religion, banning missionaries would in a way guarantee that outside religions are kept out, and we'd be indirectly supporting a state religion. |

Message | Let me see if I can clarify: Article 3 states the government would have no official policy towards religion. Article 1 forbids foreign missionaries from entering the country. By not allowing outside missionaries to enter our country, this bill indirectly supports the government taking a stand on organized religion. It is, in effect, stating "We think the religions in Dundorf are superior to those from the outside, so keep your foreign missionaries and their religions away." If the government were to truly support openness in the area of religion, it would allow foreign missionaries in and take no stand on official religions. We would be inclined to support Article 3, but not Article 1, and will therefore be voting against this legislation. |

Message | I follow your analysis. But we consider the not-entering of foreign missionaries as a part of broader, anti-immigration laws. |
