Bill: NMP Minimum Wage Bill
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2425
Description[?]:
We feel that the current law is wrong, asit demonstrates a lack of understanding of inflation. If all workers earn a wage well above the poverty line, then inflation will kick inm eating into those wages, and forcing the poverty line up, creating a neverending cycle, as the minimum wage would be forced up, increasing inflation, and subsequently raising the poverty line again. Therefore we propose a basic minimum wage, in order to restrain inflation. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The nation's policy on minimum wage regulation.
Old value:: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.
Current: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.
Proposed: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a single full time worker on it can adequately subsist.

Message | Aye, a living wage is better than a subsistence wage, but not at the cost of increasing inflation to such an extent that the poverty line would continue t rise and money would be devalued. |

Message | Where is the evidence of inflation? As Finance Minister I assure the Parliament that inflation is under control due to the hawkish monetary policies we have in place. |

Message | Thats nonsense, we have a really high minimum wage, of course inflation would be continually rising, as the poverty line would be continually rising, pushing up the minimum wage again. |

Message | Those were the same two basic arguments and the ULP feels they are somewhat based in opinion rather than facts on both sides. Ah well we must vote now. |
