MessageFRUIT sees both positives and negatives from this bill. On the one hand, we believe that trying sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds as adults would be a mistake. On the other hand, we believe that these citizens deserve the same rights as anyone else. After consideration, we lean in favor, but are definitely interested in hearing more debate.

MessageWell, the reason we support this bill is that we think people are plenty responsible at age 16 and 17. Ultimately, the best way to prevent them from getting adult sentences is giving more control into the hands of juries for consideration of sentencing in special cases, but that is another bill for another day.
