Message | If you lower the corporation profit tax more and leave the luxury tax as it is, we can support. |
Date | 01:48:56, July 14, 2007 CET | From | National Arab Party of Kafuristan | To | Debating the Tax Reduction Act |
Message | But wouldn't decreasing the sales tax increase the profit, thereby increasing taxes earned? |
Date | 01:52:47, July 14, 2007 CET | From | Democratic Party | To | Debating the Tax Reduction Act |
Message | No, because the tax is imposed after the profit has been made; we do not take more tax later. For example, if a company makes 100 KAFs profit, we presently take 60 KAFs. However, if we lowered the Profit Tax to say 45%, we would only take 45 KAFs. In the first example this would leave 40 KAFs "real profit", and 55 in the second example. We do not tax this final amount. |

Message | Yes, but wouldn't some companies pass this tax to their consumers? Thereby reducing consumption and thus profit? |
Date | 15:52:58, July 14, 2007 CET | From | Democratic Party | To | Debating the Tax Reduction Act |
Message | Maybe, but they do this already! |
Date | 17:54:22, July 14, 2007 CET | From | Democratic Party | To | Debating the Tax Reduction Act |
Message | If we want the economy to grow we need to allow them to keep more profit, by reducing sales tax. If you do that, and keep Luxury Tax at 18, we will support it. |
