Bill: Immigration Restriction Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: One Nation Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2431

Description[?]:

People from outer nations entering Aloria need to know the little heritage and culture Aloria has, therefore One Nation proposals an Exam for those who want to enter Aloria and call it home.

Aloria is a great place - and many people enjoy the fruits of this nation, however there comes a time when we need to stand up and assess those who are entering our country. There has been occasions whereby we have granted citzenship to individuals who have no respect for our way of life.

MessageYou take a test to become a national if you are an immigrant. Considering that all nationals become citizens this is unnecessary.

MessageI'd need to know more about the contents of the exam. How difficult will it be to pass? What sorts of questions will it contain? Is it biased for or against immigrants from particular areas?

MessageCP - your comments do not reflect current legislation - One Nation wants to make this official.

To both the DR and MLP the qualifying exam would cover such topics as Culture and Heritage - so basically our way of life and basic numeracy and Alorian Language - One Nation believes the current system of allowing all individuals to enter without proper examination is creating a situation whereby we are setting individuals up to fail. Many immigrants who cannot speak Alorian have come to me concerned that they are unable to gain fruitful employment, access government departments and fail to understand our legal system.

The exam is not biased towards any particular people - however I guess those who want to gain citizenship in Aloria must do some ground work prior to entering our great nation.

Some people have commented to me that they are concerned about the Alorian Language component stating that many Alorians are not good at literacy - One Nation isn't advocating university level - but basic level so that individuals can gain and sustain employment, access Government Departments and have an understanding of their legal rights once they become citizens.

Thank you.

MessageChildren born in Aloria should not have to take a test to "prove" that they're "qualified" to be Alorian citizens. Citizenship is their birthright, and this bill will create an underclass of people living in this country with fewer rights than everyone else.

MessageParty Royale - who mentioned anything about those who have been born in Aloria? This legislation is for new incoming migrants who want citizenship in Aloria.
