Bill: Re-armament Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Dorvish Popular Front
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2093
Description[?]:
Dorvik's current military state is weak, and unable to defend our nation effectively. It is imperitive to maintain a nuclear deterant as the best way to maintain peace. If Dorvik has nuclear arms, other nations will think twice before messing with us and especially before using WMD's against us. It gives us a valuable tool on the negotiating table and allows us to be a bigger force on the international scene. Colonel Adams Spokesman for Defence Patriotic Corporate Party |

Message | Firstly let me begin by stating one thing: our Nation's military is in no shape or form weak, it is one of the most highly proffesional and best equipped in the world and is a credit to this nation. Secondly i shall adress the concept of needing Nuclear weapons to defend ourselves. Even at the height of the war, nuclear weapons have no influence on the course of events. They deterr no enemy, . Not only have nuclear weapons been of no military value, they are dangerous to possess. We have come to a fork in the road,Either there must be a demonstrated commitment to move toward nuclear disarmament, or we should resign ourselves to the fact that other countries will pursue a more dangerous parity through proliferation.Nuclear proliferation is a symptom, and these symptoms will continue to persist and worsen as long as we leave unaddressed the underlying causes of insecurity and instability—such as chronic disputes which continue to fester, the persistent lack of good governance and basic freedoms, a growing divide between rich and poor, and newly perceived schisms based on ethnic or religious differences In this century, in this generation, we must develop a new approach to security capable of transcending borders—an inclusive approach that is centered on the value of every human life. The sooner we can make that transition, the sooner we will achieve our goal of a planet with peace and justice as its hallmark An essential benchmark will be that a concrete roadmap for verified, irreversible nuclear disarmament, complete with a timetable, and involving not only Dorvik but also in the whole, is at last put in place We need a world free from nuclear weapons; and so we need a re-moralized Dorvik to take the lead and bequeath planet Earth a fate free of nuclear holocaust. Some kind of future nuclear tragedy would seem probable in the absence of transcendent regional disarmament. Until All Nuclear Nations Disarm, Others Will Lust After Same Power, therefore we should keep our policy of disarmament and peace Why do we not invest in Anti-Nuclear defensive technologies instead?? As ex commander of the northern Submerine Flotilla i know that our submarines have anti-Nuclear missiles. We can defend ourselves. Admiral Teppid (president) |

Message | OOC: Hahaha, I have been away from Dorvik for aout 50 years but I remember that same old stuff being copied and pasted in EVERY bill about nuclear weapons. I think there is something wrong with the President if he must refer to 50 year old debates to prepare his speeches! IC: You obviously have little knowledge of warfare if you truely believe that nuclear weapons have no effect on a war. Let me describe three scenario's: - WW2. America was faced with the prospect of invading Japan which was bound to take years and kill millions. Instead, they used nuclear weapons to force the surrender of Japan. - The Cold War. Both sides had nukes, and therefore the MAD concept (mutually assured destruction) came into play. This means that if either side launched their nuclear weapons they would be sure to be destroyed themselves. This balance of power ensured that nuclear weapons were never used. - Tactical nukes. Things such as DU shells can provide the difference in tank battles, and DU can also be used as tank armour. I am unsure how you made the rank of Admiral. Furthermore, I believe you are trying to look patriotic and militaristic by your passionate defence of the Dorvikian armed forces, but a true patriot can recognise problems in our country instead of just pretending their doing fine.
