Bill: Genetically Modified Food Act, 2092
Details
Submitted by[?]: Alliance of Free Persons
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2097
Description[?]:
Genetically modified foods may provide a relief to the epidemic of world hunger, and more research should be done into them. However, we do not feel at this time that genetically modified foods are safe enough to be consumed by our citizens. We therefore propose the legalization of research into genetically modified foods, but continuing our ban on the production and selling thereof, until such time as they can be proven safe, and even then, we would propose that genetically modified foods be labled. |

Message | The Democratic Alliance would strongly support permitting research into GM food. In fact, we would be prepared to go further and support the position of 'All activities related to production, selling or researching of GM crops are allowed. Products containing GM food have to mention this on a label'. |
