Date | 17:49:23, July 30, 2007 CET | From | Bloc Militaire pour Restauration | To | Debating the Capital Punishment Bill |
Message | we strongly oppose, btw it's very odd that this option is available since Jelbania has ratified the protocol against the death penalty. It seems like that only the options of the last treaty The Charter of International Liberties determines the availability of the options, because this Charter allows the death penalty. We will consider to propose to withdraw from this charter |

Message | JCP, Communism proposes a return to a more ancient form of life, than of communal society, in which appropriate punishment is necessary to ensure the community doesn't break down. What is more appropriate than executing murderers? CCU, the whole point of the government is that it has a monopoly over the use of force within a society. If the government will not use this monopoly, but instead hands it over to the common criminal, then what is the point of the government? |

Message | CCU leaves decisions on life and death to a higher authority. We mortals should not deal with these matters. |

Message | Even though the Bible gives us permission to do so? |

Message | The Bible says we can do a lot of things that we should not do. Take a look at Leviticus. Do you follow all those guidelines? Anyway, the point is we will never support government-mandated murder. |

Message | Fortunately, he holy bible has nothing to do with the legislation in a secular state. History of mankind leads one-way to human rights, despite some people represent the eternal trend to reverse the motion. Death penalty is cruel, archaic and above all, useless. Of course, we strongly oppose |

Message | That is nonsense. How can something not have anything to do with secular law? Anything can be used as an influence on law making. The death penalty is not cruel, nor is it archaic and it certainly isn't useless, in fact it is by far and away the most effective form of punishment, no where near as futile as locking a man up for life. |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
