Bill: Disarming the populace.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Outer Church

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2438

Description[?]:

Under current legislation, the people of this country are allowed firearms. The most destructive device possible without resorting to guided explosive devices, and we are letting our citizens purchase and fire them freely. This is like allowing an infant free run of the family stove, or allowing little Johnny to play with your car's cigarette lighter. By the time they realize the folly of this freedom, it will be too late.

The citizens do not need firearms for protection. They have our police force, whose job it is to protect them. The only people that need guns are the ones who have something to fear from us and, by extension, the police. Are we to allow these criminals the tools to practice their vile trade?

We propose to ban firearms from public consumption. However, we are not unreasonable. Those private citizens that require a firearm for their current occupation will be allowed these weapons.

MessageThe Cohesive Socialism Party agrees that firearms should be banned from public use, unless possession of said firearms is vital to the occupation of a particular civilian. In this case, a strict screening process will be used to determine which jobs in fact list firearms as an "essential" workplace tool.

MessageTo the OC: Our citizens are not children. They are mature adults, let them make thier own desicions.

While we agree with some measure with gun control, to reduce violent crime, we are not sure that totaly banning all guns is the right way to go. We would prefer that guns be strictly regulated, but not banned.
