Bill: Building Bridges
Details
Submitted by[?]: Noordelijk Bevrijding Front

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2094
Description[?]:
The unification of our Republic must be high on the agenda. As it stands people have to get a boat or plane from the mainland to the outlying Islands, this is extremely costly. We propose large bridges for cars are built across the ocean to link all our nation. This will be a great feat, but will provide many jobs and ensure we stand united. |

From | Maroon Party | To | Debating the Building Bridges | Message | It seems to be that the distance between Dorvan and the mainland is greater than the width of our entire country. Either our provinces are very small, or the distance is several hundred miles and it would be impractical from an engineering perspective to build a bridge over. |

From | Maroon Party | To | Debating the Building Bridges | Message | Also, I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to take a boat than build a 100-500-mile long bridge, and even if it does succeed, the time and the cost put into such a megalomaniacal engineering project would never be worth the cost--think Great Wall of China or the Pyramids of Egypt; nice tourist attractions, but caused the death and suffering of untold millions and ended up serving no real practical purpose. |

From | Noordelijk Bevrijding Front | To | Debating the Building Bridges | Message | Nope, look at the channel tunnel, how do we know how big Dorvik is in relation to the rest of the world, or how big Terra is, this is quite obviously plausible. |

From | Maroon Party | To | Debating the Building Bridges | Message | The channel tunnel is a few dozen miles underwater; this bridge plan would be a few hundred miles overwater, through the ocean. Even if it could work, the amount of resources that would be needed to build such a deep-water bridge would never be worth it. Dorvan has nine million people, as well as some agricultural output, so those two islands must be at least a few hundred square miles. |

From | Maroon Party | To | Debating the Building Bridges | Message | Even if its underwater, all the supports that are going to be needed would be impractical. The pressure at the deep parts of the ocean would simply collapse our bridge. |
