Bill: Increase in Number of Parliament Representatives
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Syndicalist Coalition
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2438
Description[?]:
"While the majority may rule the state, it is the natural right of the minority to be about to voice themselves unimpededly." -John Locke "I swear to the Lord I still can't see Why Democracy means Everybody but me." -Langston Hughes Our nation has reached the point where multiple political parties have sprung up from the voice of the minority, demanding they be heard. These parties wish to simply improve their nation through the means by which they believe this can be most easily done. Regardless of whether or not we agree with their ideology, it is our responsibility as a democracy to listen, and to adopt whatever opinions logically improve our strength, efficiency, and standard of living, turning it into law. Therefore, we propose an increase in the number of parliament representatives from 281 to 350. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The total number of seats in the legislative assembly. Should be between 75 and 750.
Old value:: 281
Current: 150
Proposed: 350

Message | What would the Liberal Democratic say of a milder increase to 300? As the National Syndicalist Coalition is new in its formation, we do not know if "281" has any particular meaning that we have overlooked. |

Message | "We would even lower the amount of representatives to 200. So stricly, no. Percentages count, not seats, so it would not really make any difference in anything else than Parliaments Budget. Do we really need more expenses?" - William Bates Minister of Finance |

Message | You are forgetting something very important regarding this bill that goes beyond percentages of members dedicated to particular parties. The most perfect democracy that could exist is where every individual has the ability to vote and share their opinion (direct democracy). Because this is impractical with a nation's population being as great as our own, representative democracy must be used. However, keep in mind that a smaller number of representatives will require a larger group of citizens to be grouped together for representation. In short, the more representatives there are in office, the better the will of the people can be represented, and the more perfect our democracy will be. |
