Bill: Religious Re-Education and Elimination Act of 2438

Details

Submitted by[?]: Permissive Social Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2439

Description[?]:

From the office of Frasier Gehrig, Minister of Internal Affairs and the Likaton Fascist Front.

It is perceived that religion is akin to a mass delusional cult. Studies by Dr Dick Leaky, of the Vodinsburg institute have detailed religious atrocities of the past, including suicide bombings by the Tears of Termani sect, blackmail, human sacrifice and Sodomy. We quote the following from his findings of November 2437, from his paper "Secret monitorings of the unholy church of Meria" (a splinter group of the Tears of Termani Cult).

Page 29:

"An unknown man enters the room, with face covered but clearly wearing religious attire, dragging a small boy behind him. The cowd consisting of approximately 25 men and women all wearing the red robes of the cult immediately clear a path for the man to walk though. Upon entering the middle of the crowd the man holds a ceremonial knife above his head. The knife is not shiny, it is rather dull with what can only be described as encrusted blood. There are audible gasps from the crowd. After a pause the child, previously blindfolded is allowed to see his fate and cries for his mother, whereupon this gruesome act is finished by plunging the knife into the boy (who would only be 8, maybe 9 years old) in the center of his chest. The boy blurts blood from his mouth and arches back, then forwards where mercifully he falls onto the knife and quickly kills him.

I had to leave this disturbing scene as I was physically sick. I returned several hours later to see evidence of human flesh having been cooked with a white wine sauce and obviously consumed by those present. Who know what other horrors I had thankfully been spared?"

As such, we now propose the utter and complete removal of all religion from Likatonia. We intend to Liquidate all individual overtly practicing this or any other supernatural faith. Leaders are to be immediately incarcerated and destroyed as Vermin ought to be immediately.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior and Frasier Gehrig, we are to immediately commence building religious eradication centers, as well as selecting suitable individuals from the army to commence mass liquidation duties.

MessageDelightful. So long as anti-theistic secret societies are allowed to flourish, you have our full support.

MessageWe applaud this rational and logical Act. We are concerned, however, that there is no provision for the removal of books containing reference to such superstition.

We suggest the LFF look to incorporate such supporting legislation into a future Bill.

MessageWe thank the AMPS for their suggestion. The LFF has set up a subcommittee to examine this very question and should report back to the Convocation in the near future with legislative proposals.

MessageIt is apparent to us that, although this bill was made with good intentions, we cannot follow it.
Quoting Trotsky: "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

Thus, banning religion will only create a void within the mentalities of our citizens, a void that will be quickly filled with other influences, perhaps the Ingsoc of this Government. That, my friends, is a route we can not let ourselves take.

MessageOOC: It was, I believe, Marx that said religion is the opiate of the masses. :). I would also disclose that there are some elements of insanity and groupthink within the upper levels of the LFF. Fabrication of 'evidence' as shown in the preamble of this bill is rather a mild excursion from reality by this party.

IC: There will be plenty of things to fill the so-called void this will create. Most notably a renewed comittment to the 'here and now' of building national socialism and all the satisfaction that comes from serving the comrades of the renewed state. While we are somewhat saddened that the RLR has declined to support this act we are hopeful that the bill will nevertheless pass.

The Ministry of the Interior has commenced the Liberty of constructing 3 internment camps for religious leaders already. We hope to commence a roundup of Christian and Tears of Termani elders as well as consequent liquidation the moment this bill passes.

Ministry of Interior is currently calling for tenders to supply Zyklon B for immediate deployment.

MessageIf I may intrude, what Marx meant is that it is the last place to turn for the desparately oppressed. If I may quote, "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).

Random quote: "The Revolution needs to progress. We as humans need to evolve into higher beings through better moral virtues. And we can achieve that if we clean ourselves from the immoral. Those who go against the Revolution, go against human progress and must be freed in the most humane way possible. That is why we introduced the guillotine." - Maximus Robertson, former Davostani revolutionary
