Bill: Total Drug Legalization

Details

Submitted by[?]: Tukarali Communist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2442

Description[?]:

Tukarali's drug users and abusers have been treated wrongly for too long. Those who have a problem need help, not jail time, and those who are able to use responsibly should be allowed to do so. This will allow us to ensure the purity and safety of drugs that are currently illegal as well. The recent passage of cannabis legalization legislation shows us that Tukarali is ready for this bill.

MessageWe oppose. All non-prescription drugs are harmful to society at large. Ultimately it is the youth of this nation who will pay for the costs, either from direct harm from taking drugs themselves, or from flow-on effects from their peers or family members. Think of the children.

MessageIt is a ridiculous assertion that making dangerous drugs illegal will somehow make our children safer. People use the dangerous drugs anyway, but the prices are outrageously high due to the drugs being sent through the black market, the drugs are often adulterated with other products that make them even more dangerous, and drug abusers have less recourse to seek help for fear of arrest. So instead of people just hurting their bodies with drugs some, they also sink into poverty, hurt their bodies even more, and have a harder time getting out of drugs.
