Bill: Foreign Trade Protection Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Deus Ex Machina Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2441
Description[?]:
We believe that some foreign countries are abusing our "no tariffs" policy and are hurting the sale of our exports while undercutting our local goods with their non-taxed imports. This bill would match foreign tariffs with reciprocal tariffs of our own, but would not affect friendly nations that are not taxing our products. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change International trade (this is a default in the absense of a specific free trade agreement or specific trade embargo)
Old value:: The nation does not impose any tariffs or quotas on imports.
Current: The nation imposes reciprocal tariffs on imports, with no tariffs imposed on states which impose no tariffs on our exports.
Proposed: The nation imposes reciprocal tariffs on imports, with no tariffs imposed on states which impose no tariffs on our exports.

Message | Although we condemn unfair trade practices by other nations, we also feel that the abolition of all tariffs will allow a free flow of affordable imported goods, reducing prices and enriching the consumers. |

Message | Neo-Epicurean, but if the other nations are using unfair trade practices, they are arbitrarily hurting our foreign market products. Our export sales in those nations will fall, yet their import sales in our nation will rise. This leads to a trade deficit that hurts our businesses and taxpayers. |
Date | 06:50:40, August 09, 2007 CET | From | Capitalist Working Families | To | Debating the Foreign Trade Protection Act |
Message | The DFP--formerly the CAPITALIST Working Families Party--is a VIGOROUS supporter of FREE Trade. However, that doesn't mean we have to be--in the words of Gov. Arnold Scharznegger--"Economic GIRLY men" and let nations PIMP us. We support Free Trade, but we also support FAIR TRADE!!!! Support this COMMON-SENSE legislation!!! |

Random quote: Although I understand and respect the intentions behind the gesture, this is not something that is universally understood or appreciated, and it tends to give out a negative impression of our party. ~ Anton Weinreich, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party, pleading with his members to stop burning the national flag |
